The Rittman Utilities Department maintains approximately 40 miles of sanitary sewer main lines, seven lift station facilities.
The Street Department actually manages the storm-water drainage system throughout the City, and the Utilities Department assists in inspecting and maintaining the storm-water collection system. All of which is funded through a combination of storm-water assessments and other tax monies.
The Wastewater Plant discharged approximately 566,461,000 gallons of treated water into the River Styx in 2016, with an average daily flow of 1,545,733 gallons per day. All water discharged (from the city's Wastewater Treatment Plant) meets Ohio Environmental Protection Agency water quality standards before being discharged back to its receiving river.
The Rittman Utilities Department performs preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, repairs, and improvements at both water and sewer plants operated by the City of Rittman so that they are safety compliant and operable within permit requirements.

The Utilities Department conducts quality testing on over 4,000 samples for water and wastewater treatment compliance each year.
The Utilities Department maintains 327 fire hydrants, 2,550-plus water meters, and over 40 miles of water distribution mains and services lines (up to private property lines). They have three water storage tanks totaling over 1.10 million gallons of storage capacity.
